REFLECTION
Digital citizenship is something that I strongly feel should be incorporated into the basic standards of Learning. A school’s purpose is to prepare students to be successful and knowledgeable adults. With all the jobs requiring the skills to be digitally fluent, it would be a disservice not to place all academic lessons through the lens of digital citizenship. In this current time it would be like not teaching a child to read. In this world saturated with instantaneous knowledge we must place a heavy emphasis upon digital ethics, literacy, footprint, and security.
My first piece of evidence is an interactive infographic curating ethical information using articles representing Element 4.2. Each of the articles were thoroughly read, summarized, and linked. The selection of each resource took into consideration all of the varying environments where digital ethics comes into play. A few of the resources discuss a wider awareness for the abuse of technologies and the effect it could have on others. Each resource was meant to be used as a model for digital ethics, safety, and legality. Accompanying this is a curation resource incorporating technology soft skills into lessons to support diverse learners for Element 4.3.
The second piece of evidence features an online live professional development I gave on the topic of digital security. Not only does it feature certain illegal aspects of your security but also demonstrates best practices and enhances the learners cultural/ global awareness of the inner workings of digital security, hacking, and the main purpose for the dark web promoting all 3 elements of standard 4.
This mobile device implementation plan highlights element 4.1 in the continuous struggle to close the technology gap. It outlines a strategy to utilize students' own mobile devices to enhance the classroom environment and increase equity of digital tools.
My last piece of evidence is a Livebinder activity that demonstrates my knowledge on digital citizenship as a whole. It not only talks about digital ethics but also all of the other Digital citizenship and responsibility issues. Each of the topics includes a discussion area to promote wider awareness as well as an activity to solidify new knowledge for Element 4.3.
