REFLECTION
Though I have hosted many in-person professional developments, this was usually done as a direct request from administration to share my personal knowledge and application proficiency with my peers in varying grade levels. This program has exposed me to a highly in depth and rigorous methods of assessing needs and developing intensive plans and assessments based on this data. I have engaged in all of these elements multiple times throughout the program. The following projects most aptly demonstrate proficiency in each of the elements.
Evidence one features my practicum technology program administrator report. For this report I talked to numerous stakeholders and consulted many districts’ documents to evaluate the effectiveness of existing technology plans and programs for Element 5.1. Based on the findings of my report and the center's strengths and weaknesses, I developed recommendations to improve the existing infrastructure intact with these recommendations and data for Element 5.3.
My second piece of evidence is a professional development I conducted with a live teacher audience for Element 5.2. Before professional development took place I constructed a repository that assessed needs, provided resources, detailed plans and assessments, as well as aligned with digital standards with the best practices of teaching adult learners in mind for Element 5.1. All resources were made available before and after the professional development and surveys were taken to measure the effectiveness of the program for Element 5.3. The content featured information that was new and interesting to the learners as well as integrated interactive video engagement techniques. Strategies to teach this content to students was also provided.
The third piece of evidence is the asynchronous virtual professional development environment I created for my practicum for Element 5.2. After conducting a needs assessment for Element 5.1, I developed a plan with close communication to direct stakeholders so that I may provide a resource that is infinitely usable through their professional learning management program. Teachers were guided through how to use Flipgrid as well as apply the skills directly into lesson implementation. This virtual professional development features a self-paced learning path with face-to-face video components so that me as the instructor can interact directly with the learner. The heart of this professional development gives teachers the tools to create an alternative means of assessment and discourse that would be also exceedingly valuable as a distance-learning setting. Feedback surveys and checks for understanding were taken so I could self evaluate my program for increased effectiveness and validity for Element 5.3.
